Why should I go solar?

You can save money, be more independent, and do a positive thing for the world we all live in.

What are the financial benefits of solar energy?

Power prices always go up over time, and they also track inflation. Going solar is a way to “fix” your costs. With solar, your system’s power will stay the same price as the day we install it, and eventually it will be free. In most cases the monthly cost of your power will go down from day one, often by a significant amount.

What are the environmental benefits of solar energy?

It’s simple. No fuel burned. Your energy comes from the sun.

How do I find out how much I pay for electricity?

Most people are surprised at the hidden costs and fees on an electric bill. Much of your cost is actually “transmission and distribution”. It’s the charge to bring power to your house. With solar, we eliminate that cost since the power is made on your house, where it is used. We’ll sit down and look at the bill with you.

How does solar impact my property values?

Solar will bring your property value up. In Texas that gain in property value is exempt from property taxes.

Do my solar panels produce power when the sun isn’t shining?

Your solar panels don’t make power at night when the sun is down. However, with “net metering” you get grid power for free at night in exchange for power you send out during the day. Solar panels DO make power when it’s raining, just not as much. If you can see without a flashlight there is solar power coming down.

Will I still receive an electric bill if I have solar panels?

There will always be a hookup fee. All grid operators charge that. Usually 10-15 dollars a month. Otherwise, with net metering, we design your system to “offset” your power use over the year. Ideally, over any given year we are at zero.

How much will solar panel maintenance cost?

There is not much in the way of maintenance once the panels are in place. No moving parts. The panels just sit there and do their thing. The rain cleans them off, and the panels themselves are very tough. They are guaranteed for 25 years and up, as are the inverters and other components.

What are my solar financing options?

We have many options for financing. Most are zero down. The monthly payments tend to be less than the existing electric bill, sometimes dramatically so.

Is my roof suitable for solar panels?

We’ll have to look at it. Most of the time we can make it work for you. Every now and then there is a roof that won’t work, usually because of heavy shading. If that’s the case, we will tell you.

Do I need to replace my roof before installing solar?

The roof would have to be pretty old for that. However, we always send a guy for a site visit before we do anything else. He will check the roof thoroughly from above and below. If our guy flags it as needing replacement or repair, it was about to be a big problem anyway. You could look at it as a free roof inspection.

How long will my solar power system last?

Every component of the systems we sell is guaranteed for 25 years (or more). That doesn’t mean it breaks, or quits working at 25 years. It fully guaranteed that long.
